Soft Cooler Bag OEM Checklist

A B2B checklist for developing soft cooler bags, cooler backpacks and totes around capacity, insulation, liner, closure and carrying comfort.

Define the load before the litre claim

List the typical contents, ice or ice-pack method and carrying duration. External dimensions alone do not describe usable capacity because insulation thickness and internal shape reduce the available space.

Balance insulation and structure

More insulation is not automatically the best answer. It changes weight, bulk, foldability and cost. The liner, foam, outer shell and closure should be reviewed as a system for the intended duration and climate.

Design for cleaning and leakage control

Corners, seams and liner transitions should be easy to wipe and should not trap residue. Clarify whether the product is intended for loose ice, packaged goods or ice packs, because this affects construction decisions.

Test comfort at full load

Handle spacing, shoulder straps and backpack harnesses should be reviewed with realistic weight. Reinforcement needs to follow the load path rather than simply adding more layers everywhere.
